Uploading Content
While most episodes are created automatically from your schedule, you can also upload pre-recorded content or create episodes from any part of your continuous stream recording.
Upload a pre-recorded episode
Use this when you have a finished MP3 file ready to publish — an interview recorded outside the studio, a special feature, or a pre-produced show.
- Go to Episodes → Manage Episodes → Upload Episode tab
- Fill in the details:

| Field | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Show | Yes | Which show this episode belongs to |
| Episode Title | Yes | A descriptive title (max 499 characters) |
| Description | No | Show notes, guest info, or a brief summary |
| Audio File | Yes | An MP3 file |
| Episode Image | No | PNG image, ideally 3000 × 3000px (falls back to show artwork if not provided) |
| Publication Date & Time | Yes | When the episode should be available — set a past date to publish immediately, or a future date to schedule it |
- Click Upload
The episode is created immediately. If the publication date is in the past, it's available to listeners right away. If it's in the future, it will appear automatically at the scheduled time.
Set a future publication date to queue up episodes in advance. They'll appear in the Scheduled tab and go live automatically when the time comes. Useful for pre-recording a week of content before a holiday.
Create an episode from your recording
AutoPod continuously records your stream. You can go back in time and turn any segment of that recording into an episode — even broadcasts that weren't on the schedule.
This is the 60-day archive in action. Missed a show on the schedule? A guest called in unexpectedly? Just select the time range and create the episode after the fact.
- Go to Episodes → Manage Episodes → Create Episode tab
- Fill in the details:

| Field | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Show | Yes | Which show this episode belongs to |
| Episode Title | Yes | A descriptive title |
| Description | No | Show notes or summary |
| Start Date & Time | Yes | When the broadcast segment started |
| Duration | Yes | How long the segment is (use the preset buttons for common durations) |
| Episode Image | No | PNG image (falls back to show artwork) |
Duration presets: Quick buttons for 30 min, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, and 2 hours save you typing.
- Click Create
The episode enters the processing queue. AutoPod will:
- Find the recording segments that cover your selected time range
- Stitch them together into a single audio file
- Validate the episode duration
- Publish it to your player, website, and RSS feeds
Processing typically takes a few minutes, depending on the episode length.
The recording archive goes back as far as your stream has been recording — up to 60 days of continuous recording, depending on your plan's retention settings. The Create Episode form shows the available time range.
File format requirements
| Content type | Accepted format | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Episode audio | MP3 | Standard podcast format |
| Episode artwork | PNG | Recommended 3000 × 3000px (square) |
| Show artwork | JPG or PNG | Recommended 3000 × 3000px (square) |
| Intro / pre-roll audio | MP3 | Max 10 MB — uploaded on the show settings page |
What happens after upload
Once an episode is uploaded or created:
- Player — The episode appears on the show's page in your player immediately (or at the scheduled time)
- Website — If you use AutoPod Sites, the episode appears on your station website
- RSS feeds — Updated within a couple of minutes. Podcast apps will pick up the new episode on their next refresh
- Widgets — Any embedded widgets showing this show's episodes will include the new episode
- API — Available via the public API immediately
If the show has Mixcloud publishing enabled, the episode is also queued for automatic Mixcloud upload.
If the show has an intro/pre-roll enabled, the intro audio is prepended to automatically generated episodes (not manually uploaded ones).
Tips
Episodes with good artwork stand out in podcast apps. If you upload episode-specific artwork (e.g., a guest photo), it overrides the show artwork for that episode. Otherwise, the show's artwork is used.
If you have several episodes to upload, you can use the upload form repeatedly — each submission creates one episode. For larger migrations, the Public API supports programmatic episode creation.
If you upload an episode and later realise the audio needs editing, you can replace the audio file from the episode's Settings tab without changing the metadata or publication date.
