Frequently Asked Questions
General
Do I need to install any software? No. AutoPod is a cloud-hosted platform. You access everything through your web browser. The only thing you need is a live audio stream.
Can I use AutoPod without a live stream? Yes — you can upload content manually. But AutoPod's main value is automating the process of turning live broadcasts into on-demand episodes. Without a stream, you'd be using it as a manual podcast host.
How quickly do episodes appear after a show airs? Typically within a few minutes. A 1-hour show takes roughly 2-3 minutes to process. See Episode Generation for more detail.
Content & Ownership
Who owns the content? You do. AutoPod processes and distributes your content but does not claim any rights over it. See the full ownership statement in your service agreement.
Does AutoPod handle music licensing? No. You are responsible for holding appropriate distribution rights for your content. Music licensing requirements vary by jurisdiction and distribution method. If your existing broadcast licence covers on-demand distribution, you may be covered — check with your licensing authority.
Can I take my content with me if I leave? Yes. You can download episode MP3 files from the dashboard at any time.
Technical
What audio stream formats does AutoPod support? AutoPod works with Icecast, Shoutcast, and any HTTP-based audio stream. Common formats include MP3, AAC, and Ogg Vorbis.
What happens if my stream goes offline? AutoPod detects the interruption and automatically resumes recording when the stream returns. Any gap is simply absent from the resulting episode — there's no silence inserted. See Recording & Segments.
Can I have more than one stream? Yes. Each stream operates independently with its own schedule, shows, episodes, and settings.
What is the 60-day archive? AutoPod records your stream continuously and keeps the raw audio for 60 days. This means you can go back and create episodes from broadcasts you missed. See The 60-Day Archive.
Player & Distribution
Can listeners install the player as an app? Yes. The Audio Player is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Listeners can add it to their home screen on mobile or install it on desktop — no app store required.
Which podcast apps can I distribute to? Any app that supports RSS feeds — Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pocket Casts, Overcast, and many more.
Can I use my own domain for the player?
Yes. You can configure a custom domain (e.g., listen.mystation.com) for both the player and your station website. See Custom Domains.
